Positive Collision of Sounds & Cultures once again in Brixton! The Vavamuffin, leading group of Polish dancehall/reggae alongside with Lady Mc Marika and ABselektor (Bass Medium) and London DJ Roots Hitek will perform on Friday 19th January 2007 in Mass Club.

VAVAMUFFIN
The band was established in February 2003 in Warsaw. The squad is represented by 2 or even 3 generations of reggaemaniacs. They play music very strongly inspired by raggamuffin or modern roots style with elements of old fashioned reggae, dancehall and freestyle.
In April 2005 the debut album Vabang! was released by independent label called Karot Kommando. It turned out to be one of the best albums of the year. VAVAMUFFIN has been touring Poland and abroad (including famous Croatian Seasplash Festival) very intensively. In July 2006 the group played at the’ Przystanek Woodstock Festival’ ,and the gig was welcomed by the audience very warmly. In November 2006 they released the Dubang! album, which includes remixes from the debut album “Vabang!”.
Vavamuffin’s gigs are not also an excellent fun but they emanate a very positive energy and carry the message which reggae music puts across regardless of time and place.

Marika & ABselektor (Bass Medium)
Marika is a Lady MC, vocalist who’s career is developed at the same time in a different music styles - from reggae & dancehall throughout ragga to jazz. She also acts in The Music Theatre of Gdansk in a hip-hop theatrical project called 12 benches. Moreover she has performed as a supporting artist for such stars as Marcy Gray, Gentleman, Panjabi Hit Squad. We could see her quite recently at the Top Trends 2006 Festival TRENDS 2006 in Sopot. MARIKA’s mother formation is Bass Medium Sound System.
ABOR, known also as ABselektor, is connected with Bass Medium since their formation. He specialized in dj’s sets based on Jamaican reggae and dancehall, raggamuffin played from 7″ vinyl records.
In between 2002-2005 the squad was called Bass Medium Trinity and was represented by 3 members: MARIKA, Frenchman and ABSELEKTOR. Album Mowisz i Masz is the result of Bass Medium Trinity’s activity. It includes 13 tunes focused on traditional jamican riddims. Mowisz i Masz became a very hot stuff and was sold out in a double issue. BASS MEDIUM has been touring Poland and Europe, we could see them performing alongside stars such as: Gentelman, David Rodigan, Luciano, WWO, Abradab, Gutek, Mad Crew and top’s Polish sound systems.
BASS MEDIUM’S’ gigs (MARIKA - vocal & flow +ABSELEKTOR - selection) are incredible events called plenty of people to the clubs, where everybody sings well known tunes from their album. When MARIKA takes over the microphone all the clubs turn into “Jamaican Embessies” and the best selection of ABSELEKTOR guarantee great dance and fun until dawn.
On the London’s concert in January MARIKA are going to present songs from Mowisz i Masz but also a brand new material which contains 6 new tunes, which the new album of BASS MEDIUM will be composed of.
Roots Hitek
London’s DJ and selector, who is of Ghana origin, has always been under the influence of music of Bob Marley’s and Burning Spear. At the beginning of ninthies he set up a sound system called Ravers Hi Fi which soon changed its name for ROOTS HITEK SOUND. While he plays his sets a traditional reggae is enriched with modern accents, creating one in a kind dub mix. ROOTS HITEK owes a huge number of dub plates from the most famous artists such as: Burning Spear, Luciano, Norman Grant.
ROOTS HITEK has toured countries such as: the Czech Republic, Swizerland, Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany and England. Lately, on 17-th November 2006 he was promoted by Soundo Collective in Poland at the Wroclaw’s One Love Sound Fest 2006.
