Give thanks to the Almighty!
Yes I! For giving us a nice day!
If you could say few words about how Roots Hitek Sound originated and where the name come from?
I can give you a likkle background… Anyway, greetings my brethren! Roots Hitek originated like this: Through my African ancestry it’s where the Roots come from, we all know when it comes to Jamaican music, from the advent of King Tubby`s and the making of home made echoes and delays that’s where the Hi-Tek comes from , marrying of Jamaican music with African source – so that’s Roots Hitek yuknow…
It all started from I was born really, but it really manifested in the nineties yuknow. I used to run sound system with brethren called Ras Kwame sound called Ravers Hi Power from West London and over the years my selection changed and I spent some time doing community radio.
In early days we used to play all music: r’n'b, reggae, dancehall reggae, some hip hop, some African music. But it all narrowed down to roots and culture - that’s the foundation, that’s the strength, cause roots and culture is opening the doors, it speaks international language - it’s roots and culture that bring I n I together.
