Joint Venture Sound System (JVSS) is a co-operation of Priest Maken - restless promoter of reggae in Poland and Activator (alias Mario Dziurex) - master of mixing desk. JVSS, the oldest Polish sound system, have been active for 18 years and for the first time will have the chance to perform in London. JVSS sessions will featured dubplates chosen by Maken and productions created by Activator who has worked with musicians such as Zion Train, Rootsman, Warsaw Village Band and Habakuk. Dziurex, as a dubmaster, is responsible for live mixing with use of multi-effects as the characteristic sound of JVSS. Joint Ventures special guest on our gig will be Mr. Reggaenerator, well known in Poland from the popular reggae/ragga bands Vavamuffin and The Zjednoczenie Sound System.
Jah Free is a musician, DJ, sound engineer and producer of digital roots from Basildon near London. He has been involved in the reggae scene for nearly 20 years and gained his popularity among the fans of roots sound systems from his “Rod of Corecction” 7″ single. He used to work with the Universial Egg label run by Zion Train and gig with Vibronics, Mad Proffesor and Iration Steppas. Jah Free’s sessions are made of his own productions mixed live with the addition of delays and reverbs. During the gig you can be sure to hear the tracks from the one-riddim album “Pillar of Salt”, which was recently released in Poland with the participation of Polish reggae singers and DJs. Alongside with Jah Free, MC Gary James will also appear on stage. Clear sound and conscious message is what makes Jah Free’s music so valuable and influential.
We invite all people who long for good music and great atmosphere to Mass in Brixton on Friday, 9th of June 2006. Afterparty will take place on Saturday, 10th of June (details to be given during the gig).
One Love,
Soundo Collective
